In the Gospel of John Chapter 10 verse 10, Jesus said:
"The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to
destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly."
In other words, He promises us life (eternal) and something more than life. This blog is dedicated to encouraging and challenging believers to live the kind of life that they were indended to live. Let's not settle for an ordinary life, but rather let's go for a LIFE!!!!
What do you think God might be calling you to do? What challenges do you face (real ones and imagined ones)? Share your experiences when you stepped way out of your comfort zone and did something because you knew it was supposed to be done.

I was talking to Jocelyn today about the Christmas play. I really thought it was a good outlet for the youth to be kind of introduced and thrown out in front of the Church. I remember when I agreed to play a part, I was shy and didn't really know anybody. I obeyed God and did what I felt like He wanted me to do as I took a step out of my comfort zone. Now, look at the results! You can't get me to stop talking! ;) So God rewarded my obedience by:
A) Helping erase my shyness and revealing my true personality
B) Strengthening/Creating friendships
*Jumps off a chair* I love LIFE!!! :D
Hey Dennis...welcome, and I am looking forward to hearing what you have to say! In this post you asked us to share an experience that might have taken us out of our "comfort zone". The lord has been dealing with me on comfort zones and just exactly what they are. I can't see anywhere in His Word where He promises us comfort. He does say that He will comfort us, but that is only when we are uncomfortable doing something for Him. A friend in Africa recently commented about this same subject and said:
"We think we're stepping off a cliff when we do something for him and we view it as a leap of faith, but I don't believe that's what He sees. I believe He knows that we have tons of faith because we are willing to go so long without Him and His hands of protection, but when we come to that place of decision, He knows that we're not stepping off of the cliff but onto the Solid Rock."
So go ahead and jump...He wants to show us that our supposed 'comfort zone' is actually a life less satisfying, less rewardinging, less faith-filled, LESS SAFE!
Brent...You are so right about God not calling us to a life of "comfort". I like what Erwin says in "Unstopable Force" that liveing in the center of God's will is not only not a safe place to be, but it is the most dangerous place to be.
There are a couple of ways to look at that. One, it is dangerous because things can happen to us. But, it is also the absolute best place to be, because we are truely trusting Him for everything. Plus, it makes us very dangerous to the enemy, as we "...take it by force."
Live dangerously, and be dangerous!
stepping out of my comfort zone... I remember when everything was out of my comfort zone. As I continually forced myself to do whatever was the most uncomfortable (mostly by the encouragement of you :)) my "comfort zone" has gotten bigger and bigger...personally, I think comfort is way overrated...
You are so right, Dennae, the "comfort zone" is way overrated. It is so exciting to take on new challenges that are not comfortable! If you haven't felt out of your zone for a while, maybe it's time to pray for something to stretch you.
yup, you're right :)
